MEET THE ARTIST: JOHN GIBSON

John is a full-time artist and founder of 2nd Shot, a creative studio dedicated to transforming recycled skateboards into one-of-a-kind, functional works of art. With over 15 years of experience as a professional artist, John has developed a practice rooted in craftsmanship, sustainability, and storytelling. His journey began with small accessories—bracelets, keychains, and home goods—but has evolved into the creation of custom guitars that merge the precision of luthiery with the raw, expressive graphics of used skateboard decks.

A former skateboarder himself, John brings an authentic connection to the culture embedded in his materials. Each piece reflects a deep respect for process, a passion for reinvention, and a commitment to giving discarded materials new life. His guitars are not only instruments—they are sculptural objects that speak to the history, resilience, and creativity of skate culture.

In 2022, John and his team launched a daily vlog to document the behind-the-scenes realities of artistic entrepreneurship. Through 2nd Shot, he continues to expand his practice, challenge creative limits, and inspire others to find beauty in the broken.
